NEXUS Training is coming

The main outcome of the Nexus research project is about to be launched, with training courses starting in Belgium, Ireland, Italy and Greece this autumn.

Following an extensive period of research and collaboration between partners in the design of the curriculum, and following the production of guidelines, lesson plans, lecture notes and teaching materials, the time has now come to implement the planned actions.

Funded by the EU programme Erasmus+ (Key Action 2 Adult Education), the project focuses on the development and implementation of a training programme aimed at providing youth workers (such as social workers, teachers and educators, psychologists and sociologists, and volunteers) with the necessary skills to engage their users in participatory research and policy consultation mechanisms, using an intergenerational approach. Participants will become familiar with the basics of quantitative and (especially) qualitative research methods, planning and managing participatory research, policy making and European policies related to youth and young carers: this will help them to work with young carers (YC), involving and supporting them in co-research projects.

The training will reach at least 40 trainees (10 per country) and, through dissemination activities, 1200 stakeholders (policy makers, youth organisations, health and social service providers, public administrations, academics, etc.). The training will last 26 hours, both face-to-face and online. It will consist of theoretical content, presented through classroom lessons, and practical aspects and exercises, during creative workshops).

Four thematic areas are covered, divided into as many modules:

  1. Young Carers and Participatory Research
  2. Youth and intergenerational project approach
  3. Qualitative research
  4. Policy (focusing on YC)

We look forward to providing you with further details and sharing the results of the study. To keep up to date with the project, we encourage you to continue to monitor the project website and the various partners’ social media accounts using the following hashtags: #nexusproject #youngcarers
